Transferring your Limited Licence
Registration of a Limited Licence through mobility is at the discretion of the APEGNB Board of Admissions and its committees. As this is a limited license category with a defined scope of practice, APEGNB will review the approved scope of practice to ensure it is appropriate for practice within New Brunswick. To be considered for registration, an applicant must have a scope of practice which involves the practice of engineering or geoscience, as defined in the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act.
Inter-Provincial Mobility
Under the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) Limited Licencees (or Professional Licensees (P.L.)who are currently registered with another Canadian engineering/geoscience regulatory body may apply for a Limited License in New Brunswick.
The following are the requirements that applicants by transfer must fulfill:
- The applicant must be registered in good standing with another Canadian engineering/geoscience regulatory body.
- Typically, good standing includes having the current year’s dues paid, no current complaints or discipline actions, and being compliant with any continued professional development programs, etc..
- Each Canadian engineering/geoscience regulatory body has their own definition of “good standing” which aligns with their Act/Bylaws.
- The applicant’s Canadian engineering/geoscience regulatory bodies will be consulted for confirmation of the applicant’s registration, good standing and defined Scope of Practice.
- Limited License practice and scope restrictions detailed in another Canadian jurisdiction, will be reviewed by APEGNB Registration Staff prior to any application being considered by the Board of Admissions or its Committees.
- Note: Not all Canadian jurisdictions have an equivalent membership category, and it is up to the discretion of the Experience Review Committee whether the designation in another jurisdiction is equivalent to the New Brunswick designation.
